Who does that with a shoe stretcher???
My wife went to get new sneakers. We have been customers for years and find their service excellent and prices reasonable.
Closest he came to an apology was when he defended himself by saying this process was done for people with major foot issues (which was not the case here) who didn't care how their footwear looked as long as they could wear it (definitely not the case here, since we made a point of stressing the boots were nice boots).
Brought a pair of boots in for stretching, stressed that they were expensive and didn't want them to be damaged. Was told by Steve that stretching might leave a mark, but it would "not be noticable."
Proceeded to take the boot to the back room without explaining what he intended to do, simply: "let's see what we can do." Came back out and somehow was able to make the damage worse. This time, he polished over the etchings (which did little to help), and in the process of doing so, polished away the manufacturer's distressing in the process. This now left us with a pair of mismatched boots (see pictures).
These guys are so helpful and informative. Highly recommend them.
How wonderful to have found a place to re heel my eight year old favorite pair of boots. Great job, friendly and I even was able to purchase a very hard to find pair of shoes there. Well worth the drive from wausau for such great service!
I would question their competence as cobblers if such a basic procedure can be so badly screwed up, and as ethical businessmen, since Steve then refused to even apologize, instead choosing to argue that despite what we remembered in our last conversation, since Steve "knows what [he] would have said," but failed to remember what was actually said, that our memories were wrong by that logic.
Very happy with service provided and with purchase. The employee there took time to help me with what I needed and made sure all .y questions were answered. If you need speciality shoes I definitely recommend this place.
Picked it up three days later to find huge marks etched into the boots (see pictures). When asked what could be done, Steve was immediately defensive, insisting that though he did not remember what he said that day, he "knew" he "would have" said it would leave "significant marks." No apology offered, and later said he would not charge us further for trying to fix his mistake.
