The "Operations Manager" I guess you could call him, he doesn't interact with guests just flows everything through the manager- but he isn't the owner- turned around and accused us of not only bringing in the bedbugs, but also roaches! After I had just had a conversation two weeks previous with the manager about how he has been battling roach nests in the basement of his singles building for many months! I was not happy to be bullied. Especially since we were a family with young children, helped around the hotel, and looked the other way at all the negatives of the hotel, not to mention we didn't ask for a darn thing!
There are other places in the area to check first
Honestly, I hope UWSP buys it, levels it, and turns it into a parking lot. I work in hospitality (I manage an actual hotel nearby); had the "Operations Manager" been kind- or at least courteous enough to stop by our room to apologize, I would send my guests looking for a true budget option over their way. Only because bedbugs can happen to any hotel or motel- but you NEVER accuse a guest that they brought them in. Its ludicrous. They aren't dealt with here- the best way is torpedo heaters and throwing everything out of the hotel room. I can say with much sincerity that I will never send a potential cash guest their way. Stick to the Knights Inn if you must pay weekly and in cash!
We stayed for about two months while we relocated to the area; only by no choice because nearly every other chain hotel was sold out on weekends and I wasn't moving every week. In this time, we moved rooms four times. The first time the shower head came completely off the wall, the second time being because we wanted a larger room. The larger room started the nightmare. Our two children were eaten for days, by which I suspected bedbugs but went along with the manager's story that it could be spiders. I honestly HOPED it was spiders.
Used to stay here at night every time I visited my girl in Point. Run down looking and outdated little motel but all my experiences have been great! The beds are kept clean with plenty of pillows. Only major complaint is sometimes the toilets don't have much pressure when flushing. It's nice to have a cheap option if you just need a place to sleep after a long day visiting the town. Everywhere else costs at least twice as much so pay more for the other places if you're real needy.
I would like to commend the staff. They handle most situations gracefully. They were very kind to us. Its honestly not their fault that the motel is poorly maintained, poorly funded and likely goes years without many updates.
The location of the motel is convienent. It is located next to many restaurants like KFC, Toppers Pizza, Hardees, Mcdonalds. Everything was great but the rooms weren't in great conditions. There were cracks on by the window panes and had a musty smell in the rooms. Customer service overall was great. I would recommend if you're looking for something cheap but if you're going to ve bothered by smell and how the room looks, you're better off going somewhere else.
The desk lady was nice
After waking early in the morning for work my daughter found a bedbug, which we captured. I had to take the day off of work and take my children to the doctor, who confirmed that the pest was indeed a bedbug and that they had been badly bitten. We asked to be moved, which we were. I never cared what the rooms looked like- they are very dated but the housekeeper does a great job considering what she is given to use. We had to discard some personal items and still have a number of bags in our garage that need to be laundered due to the exposure to bedbugs. We never asked for a refund, nor to be reimbursed for damages or laundry.
